Who we are

  • The Santa Maria Foundation supports homes for girls in Colombia, materially and financially, in cooperation with the Colombian governmental department, and the Family Wellbeing Institute (Instituto de Bienestar Familiar – ICBF).

ICBF supports abandoned and orphaned girls, as well as those considered to be at “high risk”. The Santa Maria Foundation has recently acquired its own building that is becoming a care home for a large number of girls.

SMF will provide orphaned girls with a high level of security, while it aims to prevent and relieve poverty. We offer a formal education that we hope will carry our girls on to University.

The girls will also be encouraged to participate in sporting activities, languages, the arts (dance and music), and Colombian culture. This will give them confidence in themselves and their heritage. We also endeavour to improve and maintain their overall health. Finally, we promote good citizenship and community development programmes, without distinguishing between race, religion and/or social status.
